Obituary of Kenneth Andrew Asbell Sr. KENNETH ANDREW ASBELL SR. Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - March 4, 2001 Kenneth Andrew Asbell Sr., 93, of the 100 block of Mineral Spring Road, died March 3, 2001, at Nansemond Pointe. A native of Chowan County, N.C., he was the son of the late Amos Kenneth Asbell and Ellen Simpson Asbell and the widower of Pansy Bunch Asbell. He had retired from the sheet metal department of Norfolk Naval Shipyard and as a farmer. He was a member of Great Fork Baptist Church, the Sydney Cobb Bible Class, and was a deacon. He was a past member of the Whaleyville Fire Department. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph B. and Linda Asbell of Suffolk, Kenneth A. Asbell Jr. and Anita Asbell of South Boston; four grandchildren, Chris, Andy, Ryan, and Alex; and one great-grandson, Drew. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Holly Lawn Cemetery with the Rev. Jonathan Judy officiating. Friends may join the family from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hill Funeral Home and other times at the residence of his son, Joseph Asbell, 6586 Whaleyville Blvd., Suffolk.
