Obituary of Doris Louise Whitehead Applewhite DORIS LOUISE WHITEHEAD APPLEWHITE Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Friday, May 30, 2003 Doris Louise Whitehead Applewhite, 88, of the Sebrell area of Southampton County, died May 29, 2003 at her residence. A native of Southampton County, she was a daughter of the late Jordan Walter and Elizabeth Eugenia Rowe Whitehead and the widow of Claude Swanson Applewhite. She was a member of Sebrell United Methodist Church and the Sebrell United Methodist Women. Survivors include two daughters, Jean A. Burchett and husband, John, of Sebrell and Claudia A. Brazell and husband, Carl of Norfolk; a sister, Elizabeth O. Whitehead of Sebrell; two sisters-in-law, Eleanor W. Whitehead of Sebrell and Annie A. Underwood of Franklin; two grandchildren, Leslie Ognibene and husband, Dan of Courtland and Jim Burchett and wife, Wendy of Sebrell; four great-grandchildren, Luke and Morgan Ognibene and Gina and Bridgette Burchett; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Applewhite was predeceased by six brothers and two sisters. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Riverside Cemetery , Courtland , with the Rev. Elizabeth von Trapp Walker officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, and requests, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Sebrell United Methodist Church, c/o Mrs. Glynn K.
